Illinois Ventilation Violations Claims Lawyers

Fighting Farm Owner Negligence

In the farmland of Central Illinois, we are all too familiar with the dangers of grain bin explosions. It seems that every year we hear about farm workers who have been catastrophically injured or killed in an explosion that could have been prevented.

Our attorneys work to protect the rights of farm workers after a farm accident. We also represent families who have lost a loved one to wrongful death. If issues such as improper ventilation caused the accident, we can hold the farm owner for liable for negligence. For a free consultation with our Illinois ventilation violations claims attorneys, please call Kanoski & Associates at 217-280-4985 or 866-438-2419, or contact us online today.

The Importance of Ventilation

Grain handling accidents and violations can have devastating results. For grain bin explosions and fires to occur, there must be a confined, concentrated dust cloud, oxygen and an ignition source. To prevent these accidents, grain dust accumulation must be kept to a minimum. Proper ventilation is essential, as is regular cleaning with a vacuum. If grain bins are not properly ventilated, heat will build up and may ignite an explosion.

Grain bins and elevators should be equipped with ventilation systems specifically designed for grain dust. Ventilation must allow heat to escape without creating additional dust accumulation.

OSHA regulation 1910.272(g)(1)(iii)(A): Ventilation shall be provided until the unsafe condition or conditions are eliminated, and the ventilation shall be continued as long as there is a possibility of recurrence of the unsafe condition while the bin, silo or tank is occupied by employees.

If a farm owner violates OSHA regulations and other safety procedures, you may be able to collect damages for your injury. We can investigate the cause of the accident to determine liability and hold the negligent parties accountable.
